ISDCF - Intersociety Digital Cinema Forum meets about once a month to discuss technical and deployment issues for Theatrical Digital Cinema deployment. We discuss DCP (Digital Cinema Package), KDM (Key Distribution Message), FLM (Facility List Management), TDL (Trusted Device List), Formatting of distribution hard disc drives, FIPS-140, DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives), Upgrade scheduling, 3D luminance, subtitles, captions, closed captions, SMPTE specifications for digital cinema / audio and a large number of other TLA and FLA’s (three letter acronyms and four letter acronyms). [The prior list was for Google search engine benefit.] About 50 people participate monthly, either in person or via conference call. DIGITAL CINEMA INITIATIVES, LLC, ANNOUNCES
PURDUE SCHOLARSHIP IN HONOR OF JIM WHITTLESEY
Hollywood, California February 18, 2017 Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC, (DCI) announced today that it has created a scholarship fund at Purdue University in memory of Jim Whittlesey (1953-2017). Jim received his BSEE from Purdue University in 1981.
Jim was known and beloved throughout the entertainment industry as a d-cinema pioneer and ambassador. DCI is forever grateful to Jim for his invaluable contributions to its organization and to the digital cinema community.
Jim worked for DCI from 2003 to 2005 during the initial development of the DCI System Specification, becoming its Director of Technology. He returned to consult for DCI in late 2014 until his untimely passing in January 2017.
The DCI scholarship donation of $12,000 will aid students in electrical engineering and computer science. DCI invites you to honor Jims legacy by making contributions to the Jim Whittlesey Scholarship Fund at <Giving.Purdue.edu/InMemoryofJimWhittlesey>.
